Where is the tableware designed and produced?

Our collections are designed in Vancouver and produced by family-operated businesses in Portugal. It's important to us that we can offer premium tableware with a modern design, sustainably sourced.

Do your ceramics have lead or any other heavy metals in them?

No. Our ceramics are free of lead, cadmium, and other heavy metals.

Are your products dishwasher safe?

Yes! They've been created for everyday use and that includes the dishwasher. You can also put your plates in the microwave to heat up last night's pizza for breakfast or into the oven up to 480 degrees fahrenheit—these plates are durable.

Do your ceramics scratch?

Our ceramic matte ceramic glaze is susceptible to artificial markings from high-quality cutlery (fun fact - this is actually very small amounts of the stainless steel from the cutlery getting deposited on the plate). This residue can be easily removed with the help of Bar Keepers Friend or another (gentle) abrasive. Your plates will look brand-spanking-new in no time.

I cannot decide what I love the most. Do you send samples?

We offer a 100-day trial on any of our sets so if you're not in love with the color, let us know. We would be happy to take them back and send you another color. If you're really torn, send us an email or text—we'll find a creative way to get you a better idea of the color.

What’s this I hear about a 100-day trial? How does this work?

We believe everyone should find tableware that fits them best—and sometimes you can’t know what fits best until you try it out. For this reason, we offer a 100-day trial.

If at any point in the first 100 days you decide it’s not right for you, return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

Also, rest assured, returned plates won’t go to waste. All previously owned plates are reused for local charity events which we sponsor.

Shipping & Returns

How much does it cost to ship?

We offer a flat rate for all shipping of $10.

Where do you ship?

We ship to both Canada and the United States at this time. If you're located outside of these regions, then send us an email and we'd be happy to work on a solution together.

What's your return policy? How do I return my product?

If you do not love your new tableware, send us an email, text, carrier pigeon, whatever you have! We'll send you a shipping label to send it back for a full refund.

Where do I check the status of my order?

Upon order completion, we'll send you a tracking code for your package. You can use this to get an estimated arrival time from the carrier.

What should I do with the packaging when my order arrives?

All of our packaging materials are recyclable. Read more about our environmental impact below.

What if my tableware is damaged when it arrives?

Shipping tableware can be tricky. Sometimes, like Humpty Dumpty, they can have a great fall and break on their way to you. We will always make it right.

Send us an email or text, and we'll have a replacement sent your way promptly.

Tableware Care

What is the best way to care for my new tableware?

Your new ceramics are dishwasher, microwave, and oven-safe (up to 480 degrees fahrenheit). If you want to remove any superficial marks, try using a some Bar Keepers Friend or another (gentle) abrasive. Your plates will look brand-spanking-new in no time.


Feel free to put your new cutlery sets in the dishwasher, clean them by hand, or don’t clean them at all - you do you. To help reduce water marks, we recommend using a Rinse Aid (plain white vinegar can also work!) in the rinse aid dispenser of your dishwasher.

I broke a plate and lost a spoon—can you help?

Oh no, that happens. We aim to have your Fable tableware last you a lifetime. So, if a plate chips or a fork gets lost, then send us an email or a text. We’ll help replace your damaged or missing piece at 50% off the price to ensure you have a full set to last a lifetime.

Does your tableware have any warranty?

We aim for your tableware to last you a lifetime. If during shipping anything happens to your order, let us know. We will always send you a replacement promptly.

How does Fable think about social impact?

At Fable, we want the world to be a better place. Through the artists we work with, our partners, and the platform we build, we aim to make a difference.

From design to creation, we ensure the working environment is exemplary, thoughtful and meets our standards of where we would want to work. We visit our teams in Portugal frequently to ensure the work environment is great and to see how we can make every Fable product better.

What causes does Fable support?

Before we created a single plate, we began working with MealShare. Our vision has always been to bring joy to every meal, and that includes meals for those less fortunate. We also partner with local charities and events, helping to host fundraisers for a variety of local efforts.

Are Fable’s products sustainably produced?

Our products are built to last and meant to be used every day. Starting with the production of our tableware, nothing goes to waste.

For our ceramics, all excess clay clippings, broken plates, and water are recycled. The clay clippings and broken plates are put back into production during the creation of ceramics. Additionally, the water is recycled multiples times and reused as local farming fertilizer.

We aim for our teams in Portugal to have zero waste.


How does your personalization work?

Personalized ceramics make for a great gift or accent to your home. We use state of the art laser etching to engrave the exposed clay on the underside of your new ceramics. Most people choose between three and 15 characters to etch it, but our team is happy to help with more custom requests. Think family name, a special date, or classic initials. Send us a message if you have any questions! 

What will my personalization look like? Can I see a sample?

Yes, of course! You can see an example on each of the ceramics product pages. You can also shoot us a message and we'd be happy to send you some examples. 

What is the size of the lettering on the back of the plate?

The lettering is roughly one inch tall and one inch wide.

How much does personalization cost?

We offer lettering for $20 extra per set.

Am I able to personalize the cutlery?

Unfortunately, at this time, we're not able to do provide personalization options for cutlery. But, let us know if you would like to see this in future. We're always looking for new ways to bring joy, and we love suggestions from our community.


Where can I view Fable products in person?

We host and sponsor loads of local events. Sign up for our newsletter to hear where Fable will be next.

Can I send your products as a gift?

What a great gift—of course! We're happy to ship to any location where we currently offer shipping, and we don't include the price on the invoice. However, at this time, we don't offer gift wrapping.
