Our collections are designed in Vancouver and produced by family-owned and operated businesses in Portugal. We believe in producing premium dinnerware, with modern designs, and sustainably sourced. Learn more about our products here.
Do your ceramics have lead or any other heavy metals in them?
All of our products undergo strict testing. They’re free of lead, cadmium, and other heavy metals and are compliant to GCGR, FDA and Prop 65.
Are your products dishwasher and microwave safe?
All Fable products are created for everyday use and are completely dishwasher safe. Fable ceramics are microwave safe and even oven safe up to 450ºF - these ceramics are very durable.
Do your ceramics scratch?
While all semi-matte ceramics are susceptible to superficial marks from your flatware, they can be easily taken off with a good scrubber and a scouring compound. Our favorite scrubber for the job, and in the kitchen in general, is our Tawashi brush. Grab a scouring powder like Bar Keepers Friend (lemon juice and baking soda work in a pinch) then make a paste using some scouring powder and water. With your scrubber and paste, give the surface of your ceramics a hearty scrub for a few seconds. After a soapy rinse, your dishes will be good as new.
I can’t decide which Fable products I love the most. Do you send samples?
We offer a 100-day trial on all of our products. So, if you're not in love for any reason, then just let us know and we’ll take them off your hands and provide a full refund (or send you a different color if you want).
What’s this I hear about a 100-day trial? How does this work?
We believe you should find the right dinnerware for you—and sometimes you can’t know what fits best until you try it out. If at any point in the first 100 days you decide your Fable dinnerware isn’t right for you, then you can return it for a full refund—no questions asked. Our return process is simple, enter your details here to start a return.
Rest assured that returned plates won’t go to waste. All previously owned plates are reused at local charity events that we sponsor.
Did your Speckled White glaze change?
Yes! We are always looking for ways to improve and adjusted our glaze to be a bit less matte at the end of June. This has helped limit those pesky gray markings that matte ceramics are susceptible to. If you have any questions feel free to send us a chat!
When will my pre-ordered dinnerware arrive?

What if some of the items I purchased are listed in stock but others are in pre-order?
If you prefer to have the items listed in stock sent out first then send us a quick email (and we’ll remind you about this option again after you purchase). Otherwise, we’ll send your full order once when we have everything.
When will my card be charged for pre-orders?
Your card will be charged when your order is placed which secures your spot. If you decide later that you don't want to wait, chat with us or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’ll provide a full refund.
Will you send out updates on the status of the pre-orders?
We’ll keep you updated on the status and shipping date of your pre-order as we move closer to the shipping date. Expect to receive an email update every 2-3 weeks. We love to share the location of your ceramics as they journey across the Atlantic.

How much does it cost to ship?
We offer a $10 flat rate for shipping under $150. Shipping on orders above $150 is free.
When will my product ship out?
If your order was in stock, expect to receive a shipping confirmation and tracking number within 1-2 business days.

Where do you ship?
We ship to both Canada and the United States. If you're located outside of these regions, then send us an email and we'd be happy to work on a solution together.
What's your return policy? How do I return my product?
If you’re not in love with your new dinnerware, you can start a return or exchange here. We'll send you a shipping label to send your order back to us for a full refund.
Where do I check the status of my order once it’s shipped?
Once your order has been shipped, you’ll receive a confirmation and a tracking number so you can follow your package as it travels to your home.
What should I do with the packaging when my order arrives?
All of our packaging materials are recyclable. Any packing peanuts shipped with your order are made of starch, and readily break down in your sink with some water. Read more about our environmental values below.
What if my dinnerware is damaged when it arrives?
Shipping dinnerware, especially ceramics, can be tricky. If your dinnerware arrives broken or chipped, let us know. We’ll always make it right.
What is the best way to care for my new tableware?
Your new ceramics are dishwasher, microwave, and oven-safe (up to 450ºF). While all semi-matte ceramics are susceptible to superficial marks from your flatware, they can be easily taken off, check out our tips here.Flatware:
Feel free to put your new flatware sets in the dishwasher, clean them by hand, or don’t clean them at all - you do you. To help reduce water spots, we recommend using a rinse aid (plain white vinegar also works) in your dishwasher.
I broke a plate and lost a spoon—can you help?
Totally. Send us an email to email@example.com or chat with us and we'll help you make your set whole again.
Does your dinnerware have any warranty?
We aim for your dinnerware to last you a lifetime. If anything happens to your order during shipping then let us know. We’ll send you a replacement promptly.
If you ever break a plate or chip a bowl later on, then also let us know. We sell single items so you can replace just one instead of buying a whole new set.
How does Fable think about social impact?
At Fable, we want the world to be a better place, starting at the kitchen table. Through the artisans we work with, our partners, and the platform we build, we aim to make a difference.
We take a holistic view of our product from our supply chain, to our design and creation, and ensure every part of our products meets our standard of excellence. We ensure that all the suppliers we work with have excellent and safe working conditions (with third-party audits to confirm this), equal pay for women and minorities, and overall meet the standards of where we’d want to work.

What causes does Fable support?
Before we created a single plate, we began working with MealShare. Our vision has always been to bring joy to every meal, and that includes meals for those less fortunate than us. For every product purchased, we donate a meal to a youth in need through our partners at MealShare. We also partner with other local charities and events and help host fundraisers for a variety of local efforts. Are Fable’s products sustainably produced?
Our products are built to last, meant to be used every day, and are a product you can feel good about having in your home. Starting with the production of our dinnerware, nothing goes to waste.
For our ceramics, all excess clay clippings, broken plates, and water used during the production are recycled and reused. The clay clippings and broken plates are put back into production during the creation of ceramics. Once the water has been recycled multiple times and becomes too clogged with clay particles, it’s reused as fertilizer in local farmers’ fields.
We aim and are working towards, our teams in Portugal and Canada to be zero waste facilities.

What a great gift - of course! We ship to Canada and the USA, and we don't include a pesky packing slip with the price on it.
